Everything Cottagecore

Inspirational ideas, recipes, crafts, and home decor for those chosing the simple life of country living

It was developed throughout the 2010s and was first named Cottagecore on Tumblr in 2018. The aesthetic centers on traditional rural clothing, interior design, and crafts such as foraging, baking, and pottery, ~  Wikpedia

Cozy country retreats, wildflower meadows, homemade honey and jam and peasant dresses with eyelet lace. Cottagecore, a movement back to agricultural life, skills, and crafts, is on the rise.

Wherever you live, invite the beauty, nostalgia and simplicity of country living into your home and heart, all year round.

Cottagecore as a style has been around for decades and it’s finally getting its claim to fame.

A romantic floral dress, with a petite floral print, a peter pan collar with pretty crochet and lace detailing would be the perfect Cottagecore garment. Perfect for sipping on tea and munching on biscottis in the summer heat with friends.

Cottagecore takes our busy, modern lives and swaps them for a more nostalgic, traditional lifestyle that’s comforting and slow-paced.

It’s easy to see the appeal and all you need now is to find out about how to spend your time, Cottagecore style.

We all have different interests and, even though you may share an style with someone, you may not both be interested in exactly the same things.

So, here is a list to begin your inspiration, but it’s only a guide so feel free to practice your own hobbies equally.

  • Sewing, Knitting and Embroidery

First, one of the most Cottagecore-related pastimes is getting creative and making something using different skills and techniques.

If you know how to sew, knit, embroider, or any other technique, why not exercise your skills and have practice at making something?

  1. Painting or Drawing

Create 2D art, in the form of painting or drawing using a variety of  media.

Pencils and paint are the most common materials for an activity like this, but don’t limit yourself.

Try using charcoal and chalk, or better yet, try mixing your own paints using natural materials, such as vegetables.

In the United States, Cottagecore became a decorating trend for the 2020 holiday season while the sales of needlework kits skyrocketed.
